Nuclear localization of LE8 in cytokinetic nuclei
Shown is a Z-series through leaf midvein epidermal cells in line LE8. This line expresses a fusion between GFP and the carboxy terminus of GF14A, an Aranidopsis 14-3-3 protein. In the Z-series, most nuclei can be observed to display very dim GFP fluorescence. Note however the cell in mid stage cytokinesis (lower left of image frame). In this cell, the marker labels nuclei. This labeling of nuclei is transient and disappear near the end of cytokinesis in shoot cells. The transient association of the marker with cytokinetic nuclei has made LE8 useful for characterizing cytokinesis in Arabidopsis shoot cells.
